Oxana Tsyganok is a young Ukrainian designer. She is engaged in rare for the Ukrainian fashion industry field – hats. Fashion show of the autumn-winter collection Oxana will present 15 December at a Kievglam party.

I always cut something and sewed. But I remember the first hat that I did. This was a white felt hat with the wide brim. Having no experience, and only diffuse theoretical knowledge, I took up difficult, as then appeared, model. I sewed the hat for two days. I even managed to sell it!

I like Cristóbal Balenciaga and Elsa Schiaparelli. They are  Gods of fashion. I also admire the acknowledged masters of hats- Stephen Jones and Philip Treacy.

I was curious to learn to make hats. There are only  few people who really know how to make hats in Kiev. At the begining, i did it because i wanted to learn how to do it, not necessarly to make money from it. But it happened that my hobby could be profitable so i had to professionalize myself and i opened a workshop. I was “forced”;) by my clients to open it in order to have a specific brand and a name. They enjoy to have on the hat the name of the brand and of the master who design the hat.

There is almost nothing to produce high-quality hats In Ukraine. I had to look for all the materials and to order overseas. Now we use felt from the Czech Republic, USA, Poland, Australia, China and Russia, applied materials from Britain, France and Italy.

Ideology reflects my slogan: “A hat makes sense to your head”

I want to show people things that they have forgotten how to wear. It will be the fall-winter collection of hats 2011-2012 for sophisticated women.
